As we aim to constantly offer new and exciting ideas to enhance your movie experience at Shaw Theatres, we regret to inform you that the Shaw cinime app had discontinued since 30 June 2016.

This means that all the functions of the app, ie. scanning of posters, listening and playing of the games will stop working. The discontinuation applies to all mobile devices.

In time to come, we will share new and exciting ideas with our loyal fans.

CINIME puts the world of cinema into your mobile

The CINIME app connects your mobile to the big screen and offers in cinema interactive experience and games to play with your friends before the movie. 

Whether it's exclusive prizes or just free popcorn, CINIME always has something to offer.

With CINIME, you receive access to trailers and you get to scan film posters to unlock movie information.

You can also check movie schedules and buy tickets within CINIME.

When you open CINIME, you will see the Main Menu Carousel that details each of the campaigns available to unlock in the app. Always arrive early before your movie, keep your CINIME app open without touching your smart phone during this period.

CINIME listens to the ads/ trailers and automatically unlock content, rewards and competitions. When playing interactive games on the movie screen, your phone is used as a controller. 

All of your unlocked content, rewards and competitions will be waiting for you in the ‘Goodies’ section of the app. Once the film starts, switch CINIME off, sit back and enjoy the movie.

Which mobile devices is CINIME available on?
CINIME is available on the latest Google Android and iOS devices. Details are listed below:

Apple Users
CINIME works on the following devices:
  • iPhone 4, iPhone 5, iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus
  • iPod Touch 4th & 5th Generation
  • iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4, iPad Mini, iPad Air

CINIME ALSO requires iOS 6.0 and above to function 
To find out if your Apple device is supported, download the latest Operating System (OS) update. 
Then search for CINIME in the App Store on your device. If CINIME appears, you should be able to download.
If CINIME does not appear then unfortunately your device is not supported at this time. Next time you upgrade your device, please drop by and check us out!

Android Users
CINIME works on most Android devices released in the last two years, it requires Android 2.3.3 and above to function.
To find out if your Android device is supported, download the latest Operating System (OS) update. 
Then search for CINIME in Google Play on your device. If the download button appears next to the CINIME app, then your device is supported.
If the download button does not appear then unfortunately your device is not supported at this time. Next time you upgrade your device, please drop by and check us out!

I don’t have an Apple or Android device. When can I get CINIME?
Unfortunately CINIME doesn't currently support Windows Phone, BlackBerry or other Operating Systems at this time. We are however working hard to make sure as many users as possible can use CINIME. You can check our website for the latest information on supported Operating Systems and new releases.
How does it work?

CINIME uses several clever background technologies such as image recognition and audio recognition which when triggered deliver Goodies to your phone.
Audio recognition allows your application to listen to the ads you watch on the big screen through the microphone on your device. It’s inaudible to humans, but when your phone hears these special ads, we can send you great related content - even if you don’t have a Network or Wi-Fi connection.

Whenever you have CINIME open in the cinema, it is always listening, so you can be sure you won’t miss out on any treats. When you take your seat, try the cinema mode, a great way to make sure CINIME is listening out for offers whilst keeping your phone screen light dimmed down.

The CINIME enabled ads and trailers will run in a specially branded segment during the pre-movie reel. Arrive early to get the best offers! 

The app’s inbuilt image recognition reader can also trigger bonus content, online interaction and rewards with CINIME partners when you use the scan screen on selected images and movie posters around the cinema.

Now with the latest version of the app, you can scan all posters for all major releases! Next time you see a poster, click the scan icon and simply hover over the picture. If the image is CINIME-enabled, you will notice some small flashes on your screen as the image is read and detected by your app. If you do not see these then your image is not CINIME-enabled or you may not have a Network or Wi-Fi connection to download the triggers.

CINIME also introduced a ‘Movies’ section In this section you can scroll through new releases and upcoming films. If you like the look of a movie, you can click on it to read the synopsis, find out the release date as well as watch the trailer.

What is Cinema Mode?
Cinema mode is a great new setting inside CINIME that allows you to make sure your app is listening out for Goodies. Simply take your seat in the cinema and select ‘enter cinema mode’ when the advertising starts. If you like, you can also use cinema mode to ‘dim the lights’ and decrease the brightness of your phone whilst the ads are playing. If you want to switch your phone back to its original brightness setting, simply click ‘exit cinema mode’.

When registering, please make sure the password is at least 6 characters in length.
Can I use CINIME during the movie?
No. CINIME will only unlock content during the ads and trailers before the movie starts. At the end of these, you will know it is time to put your phone away and enjoy your movie.
When can I get my Goodies?
You can see the Goodies you have unlocked if you click on ‘My Goodies’ on the Main Menu, when you open the CINIME app. You can click on one of the Goodies in the list to find out more.

Some Goodies, including coupons and special offers can be redeemed in your local cinema. Others will direct you to carefully selected promotional partners offering rewards and benefits.

Remember, when you unlock new Goodies, these are often locked in your app for a select amount of time, so you can sit back and enjoy your movie. You can collect some offers in the cinema once you leave, or save them for a special treat next time you visit. Remember to keep-an-eye on the expiry date of your offer in the My Goodies page.
How do I know what Goodies I can unlock?
When you open the app, you will see the Main Menu Carousel. This will detail each of the campaigns available to unlock in the app. The Carousel rotates through the offers every few seconds. You can stop it by pressing the screen or swipe left and right to move through quicker. Each page in the Carousel will tell you what Goodies can be unlocked and how to get them.

If you like the look of a particular Goodie, you can click on it to find out more information or begin interacting straight away.
How do I get Goodies with my app?
There are three methods of unlocking Goodies in the app. The first is by using the scan button to interact with promotional posters. The second is through simply having the app open when the CINIME-enabled ads are on screen. The third is by clicking on selected Main Menu Carousel pages where you can click on the featured screens to play quizzes and enter competitions to unlock more content.
Do I need a Mobile Network or Wi-Fi signal on my mobile phone?
CINIME’s technology works in the cinema even when you don’t have a Mobile or Wi-Fi signal. To receive the latest offers and rewards from CINIME during each cinema trip, open the app in a WiFi or Mobile Network area beforehand. The downloads needed for your visit will automatically be added so that your CINIME app is up-to-date for you to unlock new content and benefits. Before you go, make sure you open the app and check the items in the carousel for new promotions.

For Android users, make sure you have the auto-update switched on.
How do I redeem my free popcorn?
Use the scanning function to scan the CINIME instructional poster, located in the cinema foyer. After scanning, you will get a popcorn reward in your goodie bag that you will need to bring to the concession stand to redeem your free popcorn. Limit to one (1) popcorn per customer per download and while stocks last!
Why can’t I redeem my popcorn again?
You can redeem the free popcorn once and the redeem button is deactivated once you receive the popcorn at the concession stand. Please make sure you redeem it before the coupon date expires. Limit to one (1) popcorn per customer per download and while stocks last!
I have unlocked coupons, but they will not download to my app.
Some of the Goodies items you receive in the Goodies basket are coupons that need to be redeemed at the cinema concession. There are a few reasons why you might not be able to access or use your coupon.

First, check your coupon hasn’t expired. You can find the expiration date of each item in your Goodies basket. Expired Goodies will be clearly marked ‘EXPIRED’ and cannot be used once they display this text.

Secondly, when you tried to redeem the coupon, you may not have been in an area with Network/WiFi signal. Even though you don’t need signal in the cinema to unlock Goodies, you do need it to redeem your coupons. Please make sure when you press 'Redeem' you are in an area with Network/WiFi signal.

Finally if you were in an area with Network/WiFi signal and the coupon still did not download to your device, then this could mean we have temporarily run out of coupons. If you try again in a couple a days, you should be able to download your coupon and enjoy your treat!
I am in the cinema and my App won't connect.

Make sure the ad you saw was CINIME-enabled. You can find out more about the offers inside CINIME and the current CINIME-enabled ads running in our partner cinemas in the app Main Menu Carousel. 

For Apple users, make sure that your microphone is enabled for CINIME. In order to unlock content, CINIME must have access to your microphone. When you first downloaded the app, you should have received a notification that CINIME would like to access your device microphone. You can check if your microphone is enabled for CINIME in your device Settings within Privacy. 

If you were in one of the participating cinemas, watching a CINIME-enabled ad and (for Apple users) you have the microphone enabled, there are a few reasons why your app didn’t connect:

  • You inadvertently covered the microphone for part of the ad/quiz at the start, missing the audio code required for the app to unlock your Goodies/play-along with the quiz.
  • You didn’t have the app open right at the start of the quiz in order to hear the code and play along or
  • You didn’t refresh your app’s data. CINIME is constantly updating its promotions within the app to make sure you have new and exciting offers ready for you. To make sure your app is up to date and able to access the latest offers, you should make sure to open your app whilst connected to the Internet before your cinema visit. This will take only a few seconds.  

In future, please make sure that you have the app open and ready when you visit the cinema in order to maximise the possibility of connecting to the big screen to win some treats!

My friend got a Goodie, and I didn’t get anything. What happened?

There could be several reasons for this:

  • The app listens to the ad you are watching and needs to listen to the right part to deliver you the correct Goodies. Maybe you opened your app a little bit too late. Next time, be sure to open it as soon as the CINIME ad reel begins.
  • Possibly, your app heard the right part of the ad but couldn’t link it with any Goodies. Before going to the cinema, open the app somewhere you have Network/Wi-Fi coverage. The app will begin to download the latest campaign updates ready for your cinema trip.
My friend got a different Goodie from me. What happened?
Some campaigns in CINIME deliver content as a ‘lucky dip’ in which different Goodies are delivered to different users at random. Don’t worry, you’ll be kept informed about what you can win via the Carousel.
Why do I need to register?
By registering and creating a login with CINIME, we can keep your Goodies safe as well as delivering more relevant benefits and content to you. By setting up an account, you can also access your Goodies when you log on to any device with the CINIME app.

When registering, please make sure the password is at least 6 characters in length.
What if I don’t want to register?
That’s fine. You can still use the app to unlock certain Goodies, such as videos and exclusive web links, but we unfortunately cannot let you have access to special offers and coupons inside the application, as we need to make sure these are kept safe for you when you close the application.
I have forgotten my password. How can I get it changed and access my Goodies?

If you have forgotten your password, then follow these instructions:

  • Click on the three line icon in the top left hand corner of your app.
  • Select ‘Settings’.
  • Click ‘Change Password’.
  • Click ‘Forgotten Password’.
  • Enter the email address you registered with and press ‘Reset Password’
  • You will receive an email with your new reset password.

Please note, for security purposes, we can only accept password reset requests from email addresses that are recognised by CINIME, so be sure to email us from the email address you originally signed up with, otherwise we cannot issue a new password.

I want to change my Password.

If you want to change your password, then follow these instructions:

  • Click on the three line icon in the top left hand corner of your app.
  • Select ‘Settings’.
  • Click ‘Change Password’.
  • Enter your current password in the field.
  • Enter a new password and confirm it in the second field.
  • Passwords must be at least 5 characters in length.
What will you do with my details?

We understand how valuable your personal information is, and we promise to take good care of it. 
You can view our Privacy Policy in the ‘About CINIME’ when you click the three line icon in the top left hand corner of the app.

How can I post my content to Facebook/Twitter?

CINIME lets you share your Goodies items on your Facebook Wall or as a Tweet, to let your friends know about the exciting rewards and treats you are unlocking. In order to be able to share your content, follow these instructions:

  • Click on the three line icon in the top left hand corner of your app.
  • Slide Facebook and/or Twitter ‘on’
  • Enter your Facebook and/or Twitter login details
  • Now, when you unlock content, you will be able to view the item in your Goodies basket and click the ‘Share’ button to post to your Facebook or Twitter.
What if I don’t want to register?
That’s fine. You can still use the app to unlock certain Goodies, such as videos and exclusive web links, but we unfortunately cannot let you have access to special offers and you cannot participate in competitions inside the application, as we need to make sure these are kept safe for you when you close the application.
My app keeps crashing/My app is slow.
Apple Users:
  • You can free up some extra memory on your device (delete some music, photos or old apps you don’t want anymore).
  • If you haven't already, update to latest Operating System.
  • Delete and re-install the app. This way you'll be sure to have the latest app update from the App Store.
  • Android Users:
  • Free up some extra memory on your device (delete some music, photos or old apps you don’t want anymore).
  • If you haven't already, update to latest Operating System.
  • Delete and re-install the app. This way you'll be sure to have the app latest update from Google Play.
  • Clear device cache. The apps on your Android device typically use a cache to improve performance. Over time, the cache for certain apps can grow quite large.
  • To make sure that our users can always get the latest offers from CINIME, we include an update feature in the main carousel if there is a new update to the app. If ever you see this, make sure to click on it to make sure you receive the latest app additions and improvements.

    If none of the methods above have improved the performance of CINIME on your device, send your Device Manufacturer, Phone Model and Operating System along with any applicable screenshot of the app failing to shawCINIME@shaw.com.sg and we will investigate the issue further.
